Kathryn S
I am currently studying for a Masters in Technical and Specialised Translation (French/ German/ English) at the University of Westminster. After completing my undergraduate degree at Oxford in 2007, I worked for 4 years in the City, before deciding on a career change to focus on languages. I have been living near Zurich for the past year, working as a multi-lingual team assistant and researcher for a Financial Services company. Whilst in Switzerland, I tutored non-native speakers in English and German.
I come from a family of teachers and have strong teaching values. I believe in tailoring my approach to the needs and abilities of each individual student. I focus on ensuring that students address each question directly and help them to think through answers in a logical manner. Another key factor in academic success is confidence; I therefore place considerable importance in fostering self-belief in my students, through highlighting their strengths as well as key areas for development.
Qualifications:
- MA – Technical and Specialised Translation (French / German/ English) – University of Westminster – ongoing
- BA – Modern History & Modern Languages (French) – University of Oxford, Worcester College – 1st Class Honours
- Goethe B1 Zertifikat, German – Bellingua Language School, Zurich – 99%
